About

Really? You’re checking out the “About Page?” You need to get a life. Go away.

Maybe a copy of my resume/CV will get you to leave. Click here for my resume/CV.

What? You’re still here? Okay. Here’s goes…

Mark Christensen:

  • Born and raised in Faribault, MN. It’s a great place to be from.
  • Started programming at age 12. Got my ham license at 14 (WB0VBG). Took apart most anything with a circuit board, much to my parents dismay.
  • Attended the University of Minnesota, where the Institute of Technology, in what was probably of moment of institutional indiscretion, granted me a bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering. Ski-U-Mah!
  • Got tired of capacitors not fitting on circuit boards and switched to software engineering. Writing software is still really fun all these years later. I discovered the world of data and have been sucked in.
  • Worked at a bunch of different places. Been an employee, contractor, freelancer, stay-at-home Dad.
  • Went to the wedding reception of a best friend and met the most amazing woman. We fell in love and got married. We’re still in love and married a whole bunch of years later. She’s still the most amazing woman in the world and I’m constantly puzzled at what she sees in me. We’re husband, wife and best friends.
  • Dad to four amazing kids. They are now young adults, finding their way in the world. It’s a blast to watch them go out and make the world a better place.
  • Lives in suburbia, just outside of St. Paul, Minnesota. Shares the house with his wife, dogs and cats. Is still not used to stepping in cat vomit in the middle of the night.

Photo Credit: The photo used in the header of this website (the one looking up my nose) was taken by Gary Brown. Gary is my wife’s cousin, who lives (too far away) in Germany. He is an engineer, business owner, musician, and a really good photographer.

The caricature was drawn by Angie Jordan, an amazing artist, while I was at a Tableau conference. She provides her services at a wide array of corporate events. I highly recommend her. Check her out at livedigitalcaricatures.com.
